Work Experience at Cambridge Kinetics: Nathan’s Journey
We’re thrilled to share a delightful story from our summer work experience student, Nathan Oosthuizen. Nathan joined us for two weeks from Comberton Village College for his first work experience, and he wowed us with his creativity and skill.
From the moment Nathan told us about his love for programming and designing games, we knew we were in for a treat. Over the past two weeks, he has demonstrated incredible independence and a keen eye for detail. When tasked with creating a game for Kinabase users, Nathan not only embraced the challenge but also brought his unique touch to it. He thoughtfully chose our branded colours and even designed a charming retro version of the Kinabase logo.
Watching Nathan take his game from concept to completion was inspiring. He managed every step of the process with remarkable professionalism:
- Conducting thorough research
- Coding the game
- Testing the prototype
- Enhancing user experience (UX) design
Nathan’s journey included learning a new programming language, JavaScript, which he found both enjoyable and educational. He appreciated the opportunity to seek advice from our experienced team members, highlighting the supportive environment we strive to cultivate. The game Nathan designed is engaging and fun, rewarding users with scores as they collect coins while navigating the interface with their keyboard and mouse.
We wish Nathan all the best on his journey to becoming a skilled programmer. We’re confident he has a bright future ahead and would be delighted to welcome him back in the future.
