Interactive map view
If you already use Kinabase, you will already know how easy it is to add a location field into any of your collections. This field links to a geographical database which holds data including road name, City, County, Country and Postcode. Kinabase can now take this information one step further and plot your locations on an interactive map.
Kinabase allows you to add location fields into any of your collections, as needed. We wanted to take this concept a step further, and allow you to view your addresses and stored locations on a map. This feature can be incredibly useful for geographical visualisation, and for use cases like planning site visits or organising international trips.
The map view can be used for a number of functions from finding patterns that might not be easily apparent from text, or for situations when you just need to see how close locations are to each other or fixed points.
Once in your collection, as you start typing the address into the location field, the database will already find a match with the address you are looking for and then populate the location fields for you. The added benefit of the interactive map view means that you are now able to take this data and view it on a world map, by clicking on the map icon, also accessible from the configuration menu in some display formats. Kinabase will drop a pin in the relevant place on the map and then label this for ease of reference.
We've incorporated this new interactive world map into Kinabase to make it possible for you to not only add in location fields to your collections, but to enable you to visualise these, concisely and swiftly on a world map. Users can now view multiple locations at any one time, all over the world, at the touch of a button.
